Austrian soldiers on their mission at Kosovo should receive broadband Internet access and the ability to have a live video connection to their home country. At a Family Day in Graz, family members had the chance to meet their sons or partners virtually.

SCOTTY video/ audio/ data communication was implemented via two desktop solutions: The SCOTTY Warp2 (PC-based) and the MM745 videophone (with Internet access). The two-way Internet via satellite communications, based on the DVB-RCS world-wide open standard, was provided by EMS Satcom division. The system provides data rates from 256 kbps to 2.0 Mbps uplink and up to 40.0 Mbps downlink.
