Secure Surveillance Mission in Afghanistan

Mission:	The German Army encountered communication problems during their standard reconnaissance flight missions in Afghanistan. They had to resolve this by sending out two CH-53 helicopters, one for reconnaissance activity, the second as data link, which became an ideal target for insurgents. SCOTTY was asked for a solution which would enable air crew to fulfil mission requirements, reduce the mission to one CH-53 and would boost security of the flight crew.
Technical:	SCOTTY’s Aero Mission Gear for video, audio and data communication; Inmarsat connection with 4x64 kbps; Live video as well as store and forward are featured in this solution. Digital Mapping and Aircraft Tracking.
Benefits:	The communications network onboard the CH-53G, designed by SCOTTY, delivers TEMPEST video and data conferencing hardware and secures interoperability with the encryption environment.
