Keeping control after terrorist attacks
| Customer: |
Comune di Roma, supplied by partner PMB, Ancona, Italy
|
| Mission: |
The Civil Protection Department of the City of Rome was looking for a solution to provide communication after a terrorist attack. Usually, infrastructure and CCTV cameras are severely damaged after a bombing, thus a satcom based video solution was needed to keep information flowing. Integrated into a command vehicle, the communication system should provide video communication and data transfer as well as interfaces for external cameras.
|
| Technical: |
Communications: SCOTTY Mobile adapted for dual use – in the vehicle and outside. Satcom: 2 Cyclone tracking antennas, providing a full bandwidth of 128 kbps over the Inmarsat network. 1 Storm antenna for deployment outside the vehicle (64 kbps).
|
| Benefits: |
With this solution, the City of Rome has an outstanding communication and control tool, providing videos and pictures in real-time from the disaster area. This enables them to plan security and support measures as well as deploy personnel, tailored exactly to each individual situation. More flexibility is given since the SCOTTY Mobile can operate inside and outside the vehicle. |
