SCOTTY GROUP'S HUGH EDMONDS WINS FD OF THE YEAR AWARD
Hugh Edmonds, Finance Director of SCOTTY Group plc, has been voted FD of the Year for all businesses outside the FTSE350 at the Real Business/ CBI FD'S Excellence Awards 2009.
The Award, presented at a ceremony on 13th May at the London Marriott Grosvenor hotel, was based on the result of an in-depth research project by Jordans, the financial information analysts. Companies were ranked on their performance against key financial metrics, then the profiles of the short-listed FDs were presented to a panel of FDs, academics and other commentators for the final choice. Hugh received the award for his major role in the Board's decision in 2007 to refocus the business and in the subsequent implementation of the restructuring plan, which has had the combined effect of substantially reducing costs and increasing turnover.
Appointed to his role at SCOTTY in 2005, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat Marwick (now KPMG). He then spent ten years in financial management roles with Schlumberger, the oilfield services and electronics multinational, and has since held a number of senior financial positions with UK private and AIM-listed technology companies.
